Visual Argument "Info graphic"

Being my first time creating an info graphic visual argument, it gave me a better perspective on how to expose a topic in a way that can be understand by people who like visual context. Doing this info graphic challenged me to be more precise and accurate in regards of the information I want to present. Since the space is limited, the main goal is to catch the audience’s attention without making them tired or bored, it is imperative to know how to create something that doesn’t look too “busy”. There were a couple of steps taken In order to be able to make something “short, sweet and straight to the point.” It was an interesting experience as well as very challenging. At times, it was also frustrating at times since even though I am considered being part of this generation, I am not one of those tech savvy people. The first step after submitting my Global Issues Report was having to brain storm again due to all the research and information gathered. It was very lengthy process due to how passionate I am about this topic since I myself belong to the Clergy and the topic which can be deemed very controversial, specially in these times and administration, touches close to home in a sense. The outlines were many and ranging from why should it be eradicated, to why should it be enforced with more weight from a legal standpoint, the best option came in to mind. Instead of giving the reasons of why or what not, I focused on the advantages and disadvantages of the separation of Church and State from several perspectives. Even though there were many, I only choose three of each that to me were major due to the current administration and events. I used a clear yet simple vocabulary in order to be able to express the ideas and concepts to all types of audiences. I also used icons, images and symbols to represent the diverse institutions and communities being affected by this concept. The colors I used were both patriotic as well as important to the religious group I am part of which is Christianity. Making this visual argument was enlighten since I was able put so much input in so little space with the hopes that whoever sees it and reads its content might get a curiosity to seek deeper and engage on the topic more. I have been a witness of the importance and privilege we have as a nation with this concept since not all countries do not have such ideal. Being able to summarize a concept so vast and rich in information, history and perspectives allowed me to be even more interested and aware of the diverse stand points from all perspectives. The way the info graphics was designed not only advocates on one religion in particular, but in the freedom of religion itself. Knowing that our nation was not founded on a particular religion as other places, is imperative that we understand that the purpose of separation of church and state has been created to protect all the citizens, their beliefs and rights without the nation favoring one particular religion. As a Bishop I support wholeheartedly the Separation of the two. However, as a citizen I also agree that all religions should be respected and the rights of all citizens to be able to practice their own beliefs without the imposition of the state should be defended and honored as long as it does not represent danger to themselves of others.
